Making use of its existing building stock, Manchester Airport is relocating its vehicle maintenance workshop to a larger facility on site. Giving the airport’s servicing and maintenance engineers more working space, allowing for further expansion of the airport’s vehicle fleet and creating a versatile workshop which can accommodate a wide range of specialist airport vehicles, the new workshop has been designed by CCS to include both existing, relocated equipment and brand new workshop equipment which will enhance the team’s servicing and maintenance capabilities. Groundworks in preparation for the installation of two new bespoke, prefabricated steel inspection and servicing pits have been completed, with both pit cassettes now installed. Each inspection pit is equipped with integral lighting and stairs, creating a safe working environment for the workshop’s engineer team. Our CCS Garage Equipment installation team is continuing to disassemble equipment from the airport’s existing workshop before relocating to the new site, while also preparing the new workshop space prior to installation of new garage equipment in the coming weeks.

Relocation of garage equipment prior to re-installation by CCS includes:

• Commercial brake tester
• Inspection pit jacks
• x2 existing Stertil Koni 2-post lifts
• Parts of the existing LEV exhaust extraction system
• Lubrication & compressed air reels
• Mobile column lifts
• Workshop press, bench grinder & pillar drill

New, high-specification garage equipment to be installed by CCS at Manchester Airport will feature:

• x2, 2-post Stertil Koni commercial vehicle lifts, each with 5T lifting capacity
• x2 4-post ATH wheel alignment vehicle lifts
• A-frame lifting gantries
• Bespoke prefabricated steel inspection pit, specified & tailored to accommodate the airport’s supertug vehicles
• Standard prefabricated steel inspection pit for the airport’s other niche commercial vehicles

CCS expects to complete this extensive garage equipment installation project in Spring 2023.
