CCS Garage Equipment\’s team has completed and handed over our workshop installation for Lookers Volkswagen Teesside, a large new and used car dealership in Middlesbrough. Serving customers throughout the North East, the dealership\’s team delivers a sizeable servicing and vehicle maintenance offer which this significantly upgraded facility now supports.This project saw the extensive refurbishment of our client\’s previous workshop over two phases, upgrading garage equipment, design and layout to meet current Volkswagen brand specifications, consolidating workshop operations from another site which has recently closed, and enhancing operational efficiencies, safety and workflow for the client\’s workshop team.Images during vehicle lift installation on site at Volkswagen Teesside

Phase 1 of our Volkswagen Teesside workshop & garage equipment refurbishment

The first phase of our Volkswagen Teesside project was completed earlier during 2021, comprising installation of new and pre-existing equipment for the dealership\’s PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) workshop.This project phase also served to consolidate local VW operations, creating a new van workshop facility to replace a recently-closed site at Thornaby and bringing staff teams over to work from one combined base.The phase 1 PDI workshop saw the design, installation, testing and commissioning of garage equipment, both new and pre-existing where equipment met brand specifications, including:

• 3 x commercial 2-post van lifts
• 5 x 2-post car vehicle lifts
• 1 x dedicated wheel alignment bay
• 2 x new MOT bays: the first to serve vehicle Classes 4 & 7, and a second to service Class 4 only
• Compressed air and LEV systems
• Fresh oil and waste oil system
• Oil monitoring system

Oil monitoring system for improved resource management

Our installation for the PDI workshop included an oil monitoring system which will improve the way the client manages oil on each job.Linked to the servicing department\’s management system, technicians input unique reference numbers each time oil stored on the site is accessed to monitor usage and prevent losses by charging appropriately to each job and to reduce misuse. Ultimately, the client benefits from increased recovery of costs on each job and fewer incidents of misuse or misapplication of oil by personnel.

Phase 2 main workshop garage equipment installation for Volkswagen Teesside

Following the PDI workshop installation, later in 2021 our CCS Garage Equipment team returned to Lookers Volkswagen Teesside to upgrade the site\’s main workshop.Over a 4-week installation period on site, our team refurbished and reinstalled pre-existing equipment as well as installation of new garage equipment where the specification demanded, including:

• 10 x 2-post car vehicle lifts, both old and new
• 1 x 2-post van lift to serve the Volkswagen Crafter van model
• Compressed air and LEV systems
• Fresh oil and waste oil system
• Oil monitoring system

Following full testing, our CCS Garage Equipment engineers commissioned all equipment and delivered training to the Volkswagen Teesside team in the safe operation, care and maintenance of vehicle lifts and ancillary equipment.
