At Straightset, we’re proud to be a family-run, independent business with 40 years of experience designing, installing, servicing and maintaining garage equipment for car and commercial vehicle workshops across the UK. Our reputation has been built on quality workmanship, outstanding customer service and long-standing relationships with both our customers and our employees.

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our team, covering Berkshire and the surrounding areas.

The Role

This is a field-based position where you’ll travel to customer workshops, predominantly within your geographical area, carrying out a varied mix of preventative maintenance, calibrations and breakdown repairs on a wide range of garage equipment, including:

  • Vehicle Lifts
  • Compressors
  • MOT Testing Equipment
  • Other specialist workshop equipment

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planned servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
  • Responding to breakdown call-outs
  • Completing service documentation accurately and promptly
  • Maintaining stock levels in your company van
  • Liaising closely with our Service Controllers
  • Working safely and in accordance with Health & Safety regulations
Working hours Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5:30pm (45 hours per week)

About You

We’re looking for someone who is technically capable, customer-focused and takes pride in delivering a high standard of work.

You’ll have:

  • Recent experience servicing and repairing garage equipment
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
  • Previous or current GEA accreditation (desirable but not essential)
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • The ability to work independently while being part of a supportive engineering team
  • A positive, can-do attitude
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility for occasional overnight stays when required
