CCS is delighted to have been accredited by CFTS (Consolidated Fork Truck Services), a UK Material Handling Association Ltd company, for the conduct of Thorough Examinations under the CFTS Quality Assurance Procedural Code.

This accreditation means that Thorough Examinations carried out by CCS comply with the Quality Assurance Procedural Code, & that our organisation abides by the CFTS’ strict Code of Practice in carrying out our examination work.

CTFS is a national accreditation scheme for Thorough Examination, setting a standard for this work that is relied upon by work equipment users across industry sectors ranging from agriculture & construction to materials handling & logistics. CFTS is relevant to anyone operating equipment such as telehandlers, forklifts, tractors & more, demonstrating compliance with strict quality procedures.

What is a Thorough Examination?

A Thorough Examination is the name given to the mandatory inspection required by law to ensure that the mechanical parts of a lift truck are in safe working order.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) states:

“Thorough examination of industrial lift trucks is required under health and safety law: LOLER 1998, which covers lifting equipment, and PUWER 1998, which deals with all other safety-related items, such as brakes, steering and tyres. Your regular inspections as part of a preventive maintenance scheme or scheduled service are not a thorough examination.”
